Jake Plummer really doesn’t want to play in Tampa Bay
Early today reports surfaced that Jake Plummer was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a 4th round pick. It was later revealed that Plummer either threatened to retire, or retired altogether, to avoid this trade.
Plummer apparently objects to competing with Chris Simms for the starting job in Tampa Bay. This is somewhat understandable, considering that Plummer lost the starting job in 2006 to Jay Cutler.
At the same time however, spleen-less Simms threw only 1 TD and 7 Interceptions last year in an injury shortened season. Plummer should at least a bit more confident in his skills, right?
Instead, he looks like a crybaby slash quitter slash jilted lover. I mean, he doesn’t have the skills anymore to move to a new city and coast for half a decade without any real production, like he did in Denver. Because of his age and arguably declining skills, he will always face competition wherever he goes.
So, maybe retirement was the best move for the Jake the snake.
